Kangana Ranaut, in a social media post, has said she has become a target for trying to "awaken a sleeping nation".

Actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut said on Wednesday she has become a favourite target for everyone, and that it was the price one has to “pay for awakening a sleeping nation”, apparently reacting to a series of controversies involving crude remarks directed at her.
“Today I have become everyone’s favourite target, this is the price you pay for awakening this sleeping nation, they don’t know what I am talking about they have no clue why I am so concerned, because they want peace, they don’t want to take sides. They are cool, you know chilled!!” (sic), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP wrote in an X post.
“Ha ha wish that poor soldier on the border had the same privilege of being cool, wish he didn’t have to take sides, and consider Pakistanis/Chinese his enemies. He is protecting you while you can lust over terrorists or anti- nationals. Wish that young woman whose crime was only that she was alone on the road and was raped to pieces, she was probably a gentle and kind person who loved humanity but was her humanity reciprocated?,” the actor wrote.
“Wish all the robbers and criminals were also having the same love and affection like this cool and sleeping generation but the truth of life is something else. Don’t worry they are coming for you if some of us also become cool like you all they will get you and then you will know the importance of uncool people,” (sic), her post read.

Her remarks came hours after Himachal Pradesh Revenue Minister and Congress MLA, Jagat Singh Negi, during Wednesday’s assembly session, alleged that the actor visited the flood-hit state when everything had already settled down. Negi also said the rain would have ruined her makeup.
“BJP MP Kangana Ranaut visited the flood-affected areas when everything settled down, as rain would ruin her makeup and people might not recognise her without it, mistaking her for her mother,” Negi said while addressing the state assembly.
Earlier, Kangana had posted pictures of her visit to Himachal, which witnessed extensive damage as a result of heavy rain and subsequent flooding.
On August 29, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader and former Punjab MP, Simranjit Singh Mann, triggered a controversy after he made a derogatory remark about the actor-politician, days after she said rapes happened during farmers’ protests in the country.
“Kangana Ranaut has a lot of experience with rape. You can ask her how it happens. People should be educated on how rape occurs,” the former Sangrur MP said.
He also stated that those advocating for freedom were being targeted by the government.
‘EMERGENCY’ RELEASE POSTPONED
Kangana’s tweet also followed the official postponement of the release of her film ‘Emergency’, after the Bombay High Court on Wednesday refused to pass any order in the wake of a directive by the Madhya Pradesh High Court, directing the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to consider objections to the movie before certifying it.
The film was scheduled to release on September 6 but will now be pushed back for two weeks. It is expected to be certified by September 18.
In its appeal, co-makers Zee Studios claimed that despite being informed of the film’s certification on August 29, the CBFC is yet to provide a formal copy of the certification, as mentioned in a report in Bar and Bench.
The bench said once the certificate was issued online to the makers of the film, the CBFC’s contention that the certificate was not issued as it was not signed by the chairperson is incorrect.
The court, however, noted it would have directed the CBFC to issue the certificate on Wednesday itself had there not been an order from the Madhya Pradesh High Court.
